Course Duration: (Three Academic Years)
Objective of the Course :
It has been observed that learning is an ongoing process in design considering that both design trends and technology is constantly evolving. Foe professionals that are working in Industry or the Academic field, it has become imperative to upgrade themselves for apparent reasons of skill building and mandatory reasons as required for eligibility when seeking work opportunity. Fine Arts and Applied Arts education have essentially been diploma courses for the longest time. Very few institutes of the country have been offering a Graduation Degree; and a handful offer Post graduation Degree through affiliation with universities. This means that most Applied Artists or Fine Artists are Diploma holders or just Undergraduates. Being an established Knowledge Bank, offering substantial and varied education options.
Status of MIT would definitely become an ideal ground to generate scope for higher education opportunities in fields filling the lacuna for this and catering to an unattended demand. We would be providing much needed Post graduation to those that wish to pursue a career in academics opening the way for PhD studies; these being essential eligibility criteria for Professors. We are also hopeful that these professional will seek admission to the PhD Program in our university providing impetus for the growth of the department. For those perusing careers in industry, the Post-graduation could provide much needed updating in terms of modern techniques and trends A Three year course over 1200 hours with schedule and courses covered is ready. (800 hours as contact hours and 400 hours for research/ self-study has been identified.
Eligibility :
The professionals who have completed five years of teaching in the relative field OR have seven years of Industrial experience in the related industry. And Minimum 50% marks at graduation level. (Exceptional cases could be considered with approval from BOS) Duration of the course: 3 Years
Outline of the Course :
Candidates applying to the’ MFA FOR PROFESSIONALS’ are to take the said courses, through a Three YEAR PROGRAM, over a structured schedule of 1200 designated hours for the entire course (200 hours per term)
- The projects are expected to be covered over a period of three years; within 1200 hours of interactions with mentor and subject expert (within and beyond the campus)
- 120 hrs: Introduction sessions for projects (with internal faculty of MFA courses; during 9am-4.30pm at the campus; as per timetable)
- 680 hrs: With designated Senior Professor or Visiting Industry Expert (Session timings will be 3pm-6.30pm/ Saturdays-9am to 12.30pm, at the institute campus)
- 400 hrs: Research and Exposure to Extended learning/ Interactions with Industry experts (Directives for the same will be provided for this to be undertaken beyond the campus)
- Applied Arts: 2 Major Projects/ 3 Minor Projects/ I Dissertation by Research: Total 1200 hours (800 hours on campus for interaction with course faculty/ 400 hours beyond campus for extended learning in focused spaces, aligned to project))
- Also contribution to any BFA course (suitable to their expertise) for minimum 120 hours (beyond 1200 hours)
The above mentioned projects will be spread over the period of three years (with fixed major and minor projects and also dissertation work in each term and an Internship experience in the industry as the final project), the timetable for which (with designated time, course objectives and content) has been structured.
