MFA Art Therapy Workshop program at MIT ADT University aided with the enhancement of the skills in fine arts for the students of the first batch of MFA Art Therapy program (2021-2023). There was a campus tour for the students to familiarize them with the University and they felt privileged to be a student at MIT ADT University. Plein art painting using watercolor as the art medium was conducted by MIT ADT University fine arts faculty, Mukta Pusalkar. Students were also made to do gesture drawings. Assignments were given for watercolor landscape and gesture drawings which are graded. Team building activity aiming at group creativity was conducted by Manissha Khanna and Smita Deshpande during the second half of the day of 16th of June. Students started with a canvas symbolizing it as a container of the marks/impressions of the first batch students who applied handprints in acrylic color resulting in a team impression. Aishwerya Iyer-faculty from the US graced the residential program with her presence and conducted the workshops on ‘Using and understanding DSM and ICD and diagnostic categories’ and ‘Group art therapy’, wherein the students created
accordion journals, mark making and group mandala/rangoli using varied art and craft materials. udents had a group photograph session along with respected principal Prof. Dr.Milind Dhobley and faculty from fine arts department at MIT ADT University during the first half of the 23rd of June. Students were given an opportunity to explore the World Peace Dome which has a grandeur presence of the largest dome in Asia and get the group photographsclicked there.  During the second half of the day, print making was conducted by MIT faculty Prasad Nikumbh. Students were quite interested in learning this form of art. The print created by the students is graded. Session on Integration of Music Therapy with Art Therapy was conducted by Zill Botadkar during the first half of the day. Team building activities were conducted by Smita Deshpande and Manissha Khanna during the second half of the day along with a discussion about the spread of art therapy in India and the organizations that can be approached for the same. Workshop on ‘Carving sculpture out of Siporex block’ was conducted by MIT ADT fine arts faculty- Mahendra Potdar and Prasad Pawar .The students learnt the technique enthusiastically and thoroughly enjoyed the process. The sculpture created by the students is graded. The 15-day residential program was concluded with a closure by Smita Deshpande and Manissha Khanna. Manissha conducted mindfulness meditation as a contemplative art therapy practice along with
team building art intervention. Smita conducted team building art activities along with expressive arts therapy intervention aimed at team bonding. Finally, the students completed the canvas they had started on day 2.
